Andy Parry & The Tell a Friend Tour

This season, we are proud sponsors of Andy Parry's legendary pizza party known as the Tell a Friend Tour, and we've just welcomed him back onto the Planks Team. Andy has been doing Tell a Friend Tour for a decade now, travelling to small resorts across the United States to spread his passion for freeskiing.

If you don't know who Andy Parry is, you certainly should. Andy and his partner in crime, Will Wesson, started the world's longest-running ski webisode series... the legendary Line Traveling Circus. Together, they travel around the US in a stinky van, getting weird on skis, having fun with their friends, eating pizza and inspiring freeskiers across the globe.

We caught up with Andy, while he was on the road between stops, to talk about TAFT's history and more. Also, if you're living across the pond, don't forget to check out where they'll be stopping next. 👇

What inspired you to start park skiing?

I was rollerblading and skateboarding a lot in middle school. When winter hit I kinda didn't have much going on outside. My aunt took me skiing once and it kinda all clicked. Winters can be kinda bleak in Western, NY so having something that kept me outdoors was important.

How was the Tell a Friend Tour born?

There was a lack of non-competitive park events going on at the time, so I said why not? It's now been ten years and we are still going.

You’re most well-known for inspiring skiers across the globe with Line Traveling Circus. How is the Tell a Friend Tour different?

On TAFT we like to hang out with the local riders more, and we also do a free pizza party and raffle. During TC we are more focused on getting tricks for the episode.

How many slices of pizza have been eaten over the Tell a Friend Tour’s history? Then roughly how many people do you think have joined the TAFT movement over the years?

We normally ask for 10 pies for each stop. I think we have done about 200 events so around 16,000? That might honestly be harder to tell but we normally have at least 35 people, and up to 60 sometimes.

What are your plans for the future of the Tell a Friend Tour? Do you think you'll take it international in years to come?

It's been hard to figure out how to make that happen, but I'm 100% down. We did a few UK stops years ago with Planks and it was awesome. It's awesome to see the same stoke at the event from country to country.

If you took Tell a Friend Tour international, where would you start next and why?

Doing TAFT Japan and Europe would be really sick. The people in both places are super pumped about skiing.
