International Women's Day

International Women's Day

It’s no secret that the progression in the world of women’s action sports has been off the charts in recent years. With the likes of Kelly Sildaru who is a triple X-Games medalist at the age of 16, Sarah Hoefflin Olympic slope-style gold medalist and Lisa Zimmermann leading the way to a new level of women’s riding on the competition circuit. Then from the UK we saw Jenny Jones take home the bronze medal for snowboard slope-style in Sochi four years ago, and more recently Izzy Atkin claiming the bronze in ski slope-style during the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics. The list goes on and on, but no doubt the future is looking very bright for women in the snow-sports industry.

We’ve also seen some outrageous backcountry parts from Tatum Monod produced with film companies like Level 1, which have previously consisted of an all male crew. Tatum’s recent video parts have gone forwards to win multiple awards, showing the world what women's skiing has to offer. In her own words she says "I know I’m capable of more. This is just the beginning!” She has become a real idol for women’s skiing and she was voted Skier of the Year by the readers of Freeskier Magazine. In an interview with them she said “The level of women’s skiing has never been so high. It’s incredible to witness and be a part of that progression.

Then last but not least we’ve got our very own Sophie Stephens, Planks team rider and entrepreneur. Sophie is yet another amazing asset to the world of women’s snow-sports, she spends most of her time chasing snow with her partner Pete Oswald. However, she is also the Co Founder of Little Difference, an organisation that produces greeting cards, art prints, calendars, notebooks and wedding stationary. For every product purchased a tree is planted, it’s solutions like this the world needs to help save the environment. So, thanks to Sophie we are yet another small step towards saving the environment that our sport heavily depends upon.
