Pow' Check From the Team

Across the Northern Hemisphere, winter has well and truly landed. Even New Zealand had a sprinkling of snow... and it's summer down there right now. So, we've got a pow' check live and direct from our athletes, to tickle your taste buds for the season ahead.

Without further ado, let's get nipple deep in updates from the mountains.

James 'Woodsy' Woods

Corvatsch, Switzerland 🇨🇭

Pow' check please.

It has genuinely been dumping so much! So exciting after a really fine couple of months!

What's crackin'?

Definitely, the most exciting bit has been hitting a few street features! Very excited to get back to filming and get some footage I'm proud of!

Innsbruck, Austria 🇦🇹

We've had about 50cm of snow in the last 10 days, which allowed us to carefully start ski touring. No base layer of snow and wind effects in the top areas, then rising temperatures in the lower areas, made finding the right touring routes tricky. But in the middle areas, above and beneath the tree line, we were treated with some nice fluffy pow'!

What's crackin'?

I'm currently ski touring and exploring the backcountry after the first snowfall.

Charlie Drummond

Les Arcs, France 🇫🇷

Pow' check please.

Over here we have been having a slow and steady snowfall over the past week. Enough to push together to make some fun jumps and rails, but not quite enough yet to get into the backcountry and start sending just yet.

What's crackin'?

Last week we were playing ice hockey on frozen lakes waiting for the snow to come. This week we kicked off PVC season getting our k-feds and lip blind 2s dialled before winter starts.

Thierry Wili

St.Moritz, Switzerland 🇨🇭

Pow' check please.

It was dumping heavy for a few days and we‘ve been treated with some fresh pow'. I think there is around 1-metre of fresh snow here.

What's crackin'?

It‘s my second week in St.Moritz, last week we had some bad weather and we did a hike session on the rails. Then on Wednesday I had an amazing powder day with Swiss Freeski. It‘s nice to see some other Planks riders up here too!

Jacob Belanger

Saguenay, Canada 🇨🇦

Pow' check please.

There was like 40 cm of snow on the ground and then it rained a lot. But there is more snow in the forecast this week!

What's crackin'?

I haven't skied that much yet this season due to lack of snow. Last week I was hiking rails and skiing powder.

Chris McCormick

Corvatsch, Switzerland 🇨🇭

Pow' check please.

We've had a lot of snow here, I think there was more than 1 metre over the weekend. Feeling a lot like winter and it's sick!

What's crackin'?

As much as I'd love to be up there skiing pow, the lift passes here are pretty expensive. So, we opted for the cheaper option, getting out and trying to film some street spots. It's the first time I've actually had a few days to devote to finding spots and hitting them. It's been a lot of fun! I feel like myself, Woodsy, Tom and the rest of the crew definitely made the most of it, and I really hope we can do some more in the future.

Kirsty Muir

Corvatsch, Switzerland 🇨🇭

Pow' check please.

It has snowed for 5 days straight and the new snow is over a metre deep!

What's crackin'?

On the snowy days, we built some jumps and sent some flips into the powder. We built a jump over a path which was my first jump over a gap, I was stoked to do some backflips over the gap off-piste (powder backflips are one of my favourite tricks ever!). The weather has cleared up and we’re hitting the park now.

Hannah Wilson

Queenstown, New Zealand 🇳🇿

Pow' check please.

It’s summer here but just snowed 20cm last night at The Remarkables?! Not complaining!

What's crackin'?

Hiking missions are on with a few lines here and there ready to be had! I’ve been getting out with my favourite ski buddy, my dog Cooper.

Lupe Hagearty

Salt Lake City, United States 🇺🇸

Pow' check please.

It’s been really warm and sunny the past few weeks. We need snow bad! It’s snowing in the mountains today fingers crossed it keeps coming!

What's crackin'?

So far I’ve been skiing at Brighton this winter. I've been hiking rails with the homies the past week. The Brighton park crew has been doing a great job with the early season set up, it’s been a lot of fun!

Thomas Rozsypalek

Pemberton, Canada 🇨🇦

Pow' check please.

Unfortunately, it rained to 2000m a few days ago here. But lucky for us, there is another storm on the way with lower temps! This should reset us and help build the base!

What's crackin'?

For the past few weeks it's been leg torturing. Skiing hard, fast, and getting as many laps in as I can. It's been sweet! Every day my legs are begging for mercy, but the image of sluff pouring down a big line and having to hold on until the bottom has kept me going. I like to get in shape right away, this way I'm on my game throughout the whole season.

I have also been working on my truck and snowmobile so that those are ready to go when the conditions align!

Sam McKeown

Calgary, Canada 🇨🇦

Pow' check please.

The snow here hasn’t been the greatest, 13cm in the last 72 hours, but just over a week ago we were blessed with a couple nice early season pow days!

What's crackin'?

This season has been a blast so far! Having ample time to free ski with friends has been so much fun, something I haven’t had time for in past seasons due to competitions. I’ve been skiing a lot more all-mountain than I have park, and I must say it’s definitely leaving a lasting impression on me! Unfortunately, some time has been knocked off my season following a crash I had a couple days ago where I dislocated my hip. That being said, I’m doing well and have started rehabbing as much as I can to get back for some spring skiing!

Tom Greenway

Corvatsch, Switzerland 🇨🇭

Pow' check please.

We arrived a week ago and had a huge dump of snow for 5 days which was a blessing and a curse.

What's crackin'?

The park had been shut every day, however, we managed to get out into the streets and build some features like the down rail I posted on my Instagram. We also a built a jump that took a couple of days work, which never even ended up working as we hoped so that was a funny experience. The park opened yesterday and the jumps are perfect so we are all in a treat for the next 10 days for sure.

Leonardo Donaggio

Corvatsch, Switzerland 🇨🇭

Pow' check please.

I was at home with no snow, then we came here to Corvatsch, Switzerland for some slopestyle training and we found about 1 meter of fresh snow. It was simply amazing!

What's crackin'?

We did some training in the snowpark and it was super good! Then we stopped skiing in the park, I took powder skis and went to the top of the glacier and did 2 hours of powder. It was so cool.
