Rump 'n' Pump - Méribel

On January 30th, we held the first-ever Rump ‘N' Pump! The idea was to build a pump track skate inspired bowl outside The Brewer’s Den, our partnered bar. We couldn’t wait until March for Ribs 'N' Jibs, so why not another town shred event. Can you have too many? We got extremely lucky with the weather as it dumped for two days before the event, which meant we had enough snow to build our bowl. A team of around 10 to 15 people started shaping the bowl on Wednesday afternoon, led by our amazing park shaper, Etienne Dupré. After about 5 hours of shoveling snow we were done for the day, and even had time to test it. Just a few finishing touches to do in the morning, to make it look nice and we were ready to go.

The weather on Thursday was on point, sun and no rain. We kicked things off at 2pm with DJ Danz, Uami Sound and Bobby from Copiña, playing some rad tunes and setting the mood for the event. We had 33 riders shredding the bowl, getting super sendy and creative. It was nice to see so many new faces and even some familiar ones, as most of our Ribs N Jibs riders were there. It was not a competition, it was just a fun shred and a different kind of après. We had some on the spot prizes for people who got really creative, and a bottle for the best skier and best snowboarder. All of us were definitely very stoked on building and shredding the bowl, and that’s what it’s all about, good times in the sun and snow with your friends.

The Brewer’s Den supplied some of the tastiest food and it was seriously incredible! If you had the philly cheese steak, well, you know what we are talking about. The beers were flowing and spirits were high. Thanks to everyone who came down for the afternoon, thanks to Méribel for letting us put on another event, and of course thanks to The Brewer’s Den staff for starting work early on a bluebird powder day (SORRRYYYYY!).

Unfortunately, due to the restrictions on social gatherings put in place by the French government, in response to the corona virus, we are unable to hold our Ribs 'n' Jibs event this season. We look forward to jibbing and partying with you all soon. Stay safe.
