Today is the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. 

In the 1970s, it was realized that CFC chemicals were thinning the ozone layer. Human action has lead to a reduction of these harmful chemicals and as a result, the ozone layer has started to heal.

Manchester's Renew Hub is Britain's biggest reuse and repair centre. It opened its doors a year ago and has since repaired and sold on 50,000 items, saving 500 tonnes of goods from landfill. 

 

With a state-wide ban on coal energy production, Hawaii has shut its last coal-fired power plant. Hawaii aims to transition to 100% renewable energy by 2045.
